Blip Festival 2009 is on!

In Uncategorized on November 12, 2009 at 12:15 pm

The Blip Festival, the gathering of everything that is chip every year may experience a game over.  Recently the annual festival in New York City has experienced some financial issues resulting in the promoters seeking fans to pledge money to help put the festival on this year.  The result was an astounding amount of support that proves that the chiptune genre is here to stay.   Head over to BlipFestival.org to learn more about the event or show your support by donating.

The event will be held December 17th, 18th, and 19th of this year at Brooklyn’s Bell House.

8STATIC’s One Year Anniversary Tonight

In Uncategorized on October 10, 2009 at 12:40 pm

8STATIC will be celebrating their one year anniversary tonight in big ways.  The monthly event will hold a show at the usual location of Studio 34.  Animal Style will be there with his other act Autoscroll along with some out of state acts.  To make tonight something to remember, 8STATIC is joining forces with UPenn’s “indie frat” Pi Lam to host an all night after party beginning at 11 pm.  Anamanaguchi will headline the party with Robotique’s (Kung Fu Necktie’s Friday resident DJs) DJ Bill W.

Anamanaguchi at Kung Fu Necktie

Here is a link to some of my recent coverage of chiptune heroes Anamanaguchi at Kung Fu Necktie.  The NYC based band just recently played for a sold-out crowd at PAX 2009 in Seattle.  You can hear their newest full-length with accompanying visuals right here.
